Semiotics in nuce, vol. I. Foundations and the structural epistemology
|
For the first time a thorough commented anthology collects the “key texts” at the origin of a discipline – semiotics – which is opening today a new field for an unified theory in social sciences and humanities. From the linguistics of de Saussure and Hjelmslev to the mythology of Lévi-Strauss and Dumézil, the semiotic approach reveals its complex and rich applications which made it a central theory in the understanding of social communicative processes. The Editors provide an insightful introduction to the fundamental method of analysis in semiotics: structuralism, developed in various ways by scholars such as Barthes, Eco and Greimas. |
