Cultural Studies: a Dictionary
|
The aim of this dictionary is to “map” different trends and disciplines grounding on the concept of culture, in order to expand the American centred canon in cultural studies and include relevant contributions mainly from a European perspective. It furthermore manages to obtain a synthesis between approaches and methods often diverse and antithetic: besides the English trend with its American and postcolonial derivations, are also dealt with the German Kulturwissenschaft and others traditions, both European and extra-European. With entries such as Discourse analysis, Semiosphere, Fashion Theory, Critical Theory up to Cultural Memory the book edited by Michele Cometa waves a complex net of discourses staging the “universal history”, in search of a fertile disciplinary contamination. |
