Simona Argentieri
The maternal father
|
In this book the Author describes some of the contemporary major changes in the figure of father. Indeed we witness a complete reshaping of paternal role, when a tyrannical and affectively cold father-master gives way to a new “daddy” who, after the feminist revolution, decides to share with “mum” the care of children enjoying of the maternal function. The dilemma faced by Simona Argentieri is the risk that a positive role of “maternal father” is changed into a “male mommy” figure, encroaching the mother’s place. A fascinating psychoanalytic survey through history and society, with an embarrassing question implied: if men become mothers, who will be the father? |
