The gaze of Foucault
|
The notion of gaze has a central role in the thought of the French philosopher Foucault. Indeed, he make use of it in several facets of his discourse: from clinic to aesthetics, from epistemology to politics, from architecture to body knowledges. This collection of essays, written by some of the eminent scholars of Foucault’s work (Catucci, Cometa, Defert, Dichy, Elden, Jay, Lemke, Vaccaro) offers a comprehensive and problematic view of the different modes of “sight” at the crossroads between visual culture, cultural studies and political sciences. |
